Full Version: Should Steve McClaren Be Sacked?
I say yes.
Poll is already moot -- he's outta there.
I missed the bit where he was one of the players on the pitch that failed to score enough, but it's easier to blame one guy than 11 prima donnas I suppose.
You can't blame McClaren. He performed to the best of his ability. The trouble is he isn't a great manager.
You can't blame the injury situation. We have enough quality in reserve to easily beat teams like Croatia.
You could blame the players but if you blame the players then you blame the manager for not being able to inspire them. But you can't blame the manager because he performed to the best of his ability and so on and so on. It's a bit of a catch 22 situation.
Ultimately the blame lies with the FA. They chose the wrong man.
By the way don't feel sorry for McClaren. Because he didn't resign and 'chose' to be sacked he walked away with £2.5 million.

How many times will the FA keep employing and then sacking coaches? At what point will it dawn on people that the fault lies with those who appoint and manage the coach. Its the hierachy in the FA who should be held accountable. They appointed him, now they sack him, so it must have been a poor decision of theirs.
What I also doent like is the personal attacks on McClaren. OK, we lost the football, but the nasty personal attacks on him are so over the top its offensive. I saw one tabloid had some article attacking him as the front page headline. Was this REALLY the biggest news item of the day?
As to his pay off, well, who negotiated that? The contract would have been drawn up by the FA. The terms would have been negotiated and agreed by the FA. If people dont like the payment then challenge the FA about it.
