Bloody hell. Apart from the fourth day when we put up a bit of a fight we were absolutley hammered. Slaughtered.Tonked. Taken apart and left out to dry. It was humiliating.
I hate to say it but I can't see us drawing any of the remaining tests let alone winning one. Our only chance is if there's some freaky weather and it get's rained off.

What's the betting that we'll lose every test. I bet you'd not get more than evens on that.
At least we've still got the football to look forward to.
Hold on we're struggling with that as well.
At least we've got the darts and the snooker to look forward to

Bloody hell. That just leaves the darts. We must be good at something else.
Let's start a world championship for drinking beer and eating curries.

I don't follow cricket, but I've heard about our efforts.
I'm not entirely sure I shouldn't just kill this thread and pretend there's no such thing as the "Ashes". Some things should not be discussed in public.

Oh come on. Give the man a break. It's his first game after being out for 4 months with a potentially career ending knee injury. Were you perhaps expecting a century.

No , But for a man who reckons he'll be in contention for a place in the boxing day test , You have to admit it wouldn't be the return he'd want either , I'm sure he'd want a few runs under his belt .

I think everyone agrees that Vaughan playing in this Test series is only a very remote possibility, despite what people are saying in the press. For the selectors to pick him he must not only prove his fitness but also be on top batting form. Rather a tall order I'm sure you would agree.

Yeah, but he is a Yorkshireman, he will make it and spank the aussies single handed. Plus it will be a moral boost to see him at the crease

That's more like it England. Stuff it up them. I always had faith in you. Never once did I have any doubt that we would go on and paste their little Aussie arses all over the Australia.Let's wipe the smug grins off their faces.
Come on Freddie let's rip into them
I'm off down the bookies.
What are the odds on us winning all the remaining tests?

I hate to be the doom monger but I can't see any way back now for England. They need to win two of the last three to retain the Ashes.
The players were well pissed off yesterday and big Freddie was looking particualrly distraught.
It's seems Fletcher is the one getting it in the neck right now. He should have picked Monty Panasar. Having said that Panasar couldn't have done anything about the batting collapse yesterday. It reminded me of that time Ian Botham did the same to the Aussies.

Heard on the radio earlier a quote from Graham Thorpe , Saying that Ashley Giles should retire from test cricket..Seems a bit unfair to just pick on the one man , Fletcher was saying this morning that Ashley Giles was vital to the balance of the team , And that's why he was picked ahead of Monty Panasar .
Would like to see Monty given a chance though , We've nothing to lose but everything to gain . I fear a total whitewash though .

Norfolk Rob
Dec 15 2006, 11:21 AM
Apparently it's a bowlers wicket which explains the low scores both England and the Aussies got in the first innings.
Normally the condition of the wicket gets worse through the test. However the Aussies have finished on 119 for 1 so that's that theory blown away.
