Its a dirty disgusting habit, and th esooner the law comes in to force the better, if thjere is one thing that reallly gets me mad is seeing stupid parents and Grand parents, taking their kids into pubs full of smoke.
This law is long over due, i just cant wait for it to take effect.
I used to smoke 60 sigs a day, but never smoked in a room where their was kids.

Good on you kelly, that is good to hear, i go to the coast at the week ends in the summer, and i have seen childrens rooms, (Childrens Rooms no less) in pubs full of Parents and Grandparents with babies on their knees smoking like chimney's. Now that really gets me going.
I saw a programme, jus a few weeks ago, where they said that it has now been established, that second hand smoke can cause blindness in later life, thats scary.

I gave up the fags over a year ago now, but have no problem letting my dad smoke in my house with my kids in it. they are more likely to get health problems from traffic polution than a bit of second hand fag smoke. X smokers are like born again christians ffs

I dont have much of an opinion on smokers really (i dont smoke and never really have) but i can totally see the argument from mainly the people who work in pubs and clubs that its detrimental to their health by allowing people to smoke in there. Although if they're that against it, maybe they shouldnt work there

I dont go to them sort of places often but when i do i come home stinking of smoke and that just cant be good for you at all. I dont know about comparisons to traffic polution, but thats not in a confined space, like it is in pubs and clubs.

Rather than ban smoking in all pubs, couldn't they have smoking and non smoking pubs ?
then if you dont smoke you could work in a non smoking pub. I am of the opinion that if you hate secondry smoking, get a job in a park, not a pub

Its also i think fair to say that you can not do any thing about polution from traffic, with out bringing to days world to a grinding halt, but Smoking is easy to sort, as has been demonstrated already.
OK it might upset quite a lot of people, but it wont bring the world to a standstill, this is probably the only good thing the Grim Reaper has done for British people.
Not too good though for his big buddies the Tabacco barrons, which makes a very pleasant change.

Personally i think pubs are the domain of the smoker ,dont want to breath it,? go have a coffee or go somewhere non smoking .
But i see the sensible side its a s**t habit, and i hate the smell when i dont smoke for a day.
Times are a changing, and TBH no one should smoke .

Pubs are not the domain of the smoker.
Pubs are the domain of the drinker.
Want a smoke? Go outside, freeze your arse off and don't pollute my lungs in an enclosed space. Or stay at home and smoke and drink in your own home.

See i'm not bothered about being sent outside to the naughty corner..But for some people a drink and a ciggie has been their way of life for years .
There's an old boy uses my local , He's in there every night nursing one pint , And enjoys his ciggies , I guess he goes for the company . Now aged about 75-80 , He's going to be shoved outside .
Gwarn Bill..Stick to your guns and stay indoors ! .
maybe we are looking at this the wrong way round, maybe it is the non-smokers who should stay out of the pubs, after all drinking is bad for you too.

People can whinge all the like but the simple fact of the matter is that it WILL happen.
It's already happened here and it's great not to walk into a pub (or even worse a restaurant) and be choked by the cigarette smoke. If I choose to smoke then it's just that MY choice and it's also my choice to stand outside if I really want one. No one would be forcing me to do it and no one should be forcing those who don't smoke to breath in all that crap just because they want to have a drink in a pub or eat a meal in a restaurant. Oh and for those of you who think passive smoke isn't that bad, try breathing onto a clean white tissue next time you have a ciggy, bleurgh!

well i think that if the government is really that concerned for the health of the nation, then they should just ban smoking, full stop. its proberly the only way i'd give up. i'm sure they could come up with another for of tax to make up all the billions they will lose from the duty on cigs

Problem is its been proven that nicotine & alchohol do go together. If you smoke then the alchohol & the nicotine kinda work with eachother. Thats why smokers smoke more when they drink.
I've all but quit smoking but when i've had afew beers i do want to smoke. Thats the only part of quiting i've had trouble with.
Doesn't help living in Wolves. We have the highest population of smokers in the uk. 3/4 of us smoke here. So when your out your surrounded by smoke & smokers.

Second hand smoke is killing people.
Not!!!
Wake up world!!!
Busses automobiles airplanes trucks and SUV's all pollute our atmosphere.
Bbq's and camp fires, gas grills and ATV's.
All of these things belch tons of hydrocarbons and carcinogens into our atmosphere every second aroud the world.
Not to mention the airliners.
A 747 jumbo jet starts off with over a ton of fuel, which is mostly gone after a trans continental flight.
So what is truly killing people is pollution.
Not second hand smoke.
Driving a small car belches out five cartons worth of second hand smoke just starting it
So how much did the oil companys pay the tabacco industry to spread a little lie to hide the ungodly truth.
And if you are holier than a smoker like me.
How far did you drive today.
this short little piece i found while, having a look round the big old world, thought i would post it here. not against the ban on smoking in public places but as an example of all the work we have to do, to clean up our plant. So the law will soon be here, fair enough lets hope it helps people reduce their smoking and tries to stop kids starting. this can only be a good thing.

The thing is, cars, lorries planes & the other things you mentioned all have a point to them. The world would be a more difficult place without them. Whereas smoking cigarettes is about as pointless as you can get.
