Hello.
I am new to this so be gentle.
i was wondering if anyone knows of a course to learn how to do false nails, preferably to study at home cos i have a young child and work part time.

i have got some details from a place called essentialnails.com and was wondering if they were any good.

thanx in advance

Essential nails are probably one of the best in the business, I have one of their nail trainers laugh.gif , expect to pay quite a bit of money to get good tuition and please do not take one of the 1 week nail tech courses, honestly you dont learn what u need to learn in one week,

I'm a beauty therpist and have given up on nails for a number of reasons.

good luck in your new venture smile.gif

Failing that, you could probably pick up the real thing from B&Q. Nothing wrong with a few 4" nails.

whatabeauty, why have you given up on nails?

I feel i have to keep in competition with the non standard salons, the Tawainese , chinese ones that use MMA (it's shocking stuff) in their products. I just cant keep my prices low enough to compete, you can get a full set of acrylics at a NSS (non standard salon ) for £20.00, Its not worth my time loading up my car, unloading it, setting up my table then spending 90 mins in a clients home, loading up my car again and driving home for £20.00.
I agree than the chinese nails look very good but alot of them do use MMA and it is as cheap as chips to buy and has been banned in all countries in Europe and America.

Continuous use of acrylic nails on the natural nail can cause irreversible damage too, alot of techs will disagree but i believe the nail needs to breathe and you are coating it in cement all the time. The clients i have had in the past say they can't live without them, they won't even give their natural nails a chance. I was only telling my clients to use them until the natural nail underneath has grown long enough to maintain, dont rely on the artificial nail.

I think i drew the lne when a woman asked me to do her 11 year old daughters nails, that was the icing on the cake, I put them on but it broke my heart to think her beautifullly soft baby hands were being abused by this muck. I told her I wouldnt do them again because her mum wanted to know why they were falling off everytime she played netball. I had visions of her ripping off her natural nail from it's bed. sad.gif

I stick to beauty now, I still do all the waxings, facials, eyelash tinting etc and enjoy it. The nail part was never something i enjoyed doing.

I think they look cheap and ugly as well.
