AOL searches were made public a while back, but then retracted the file, realising that there may be some privacy issues. It was too late, though, as the data is now Out There and can be searched, eg here.

One way of doing this is to search a key word, which brings up a list of users - clicking on user ID, and sorting the results by date, tells a little story in some cases. Eg User 4956165 in April and May was clearly looking to get married: during April, s/he was thinking of heading out to head out to Las Vegas, but two weeks later - on 7th May - was thinking of going to the (presumably local) magistrtate in Richmond, VA. It seems that an earlier, 13th March, search for new sexual positions paid dividends, and that s/he had said 'yes'. Now it's just a check-up with Dr Wilkes, the ENT specialist at Richmond, and book the Big Day... Unfortunately, the story finishes in mid-May.

Post any interesting stories you come across here biggrin.gif

Oooooo. That's not nice.

Mind you, without being rude to any members that use AOL. It's long been an item of faith on the internet that AOL is a bad thing to have on your computer.

Some people are REALLY sick...

On the other hand, user 3347568 was panicking on the 11th May, as the terms "how do i get this pointer off my computer it looks like a torch" imply.

It must've worked - the next day she was looking up more sermons, this time it was: "where can i find a sermon on men our like dogs." I think she means 'are like dogs'. blink.gif Anyway, it reminded her of the name of a song, and wondered if there was a sermon about that, too: "sermon on who let the dogs out". Three days later, the following is searched: "is there a play entitled god's trying to tell you something" (I love the way she asks search engines questions). Later that evening, she reminds her apparently uncooperative computer: "i'm looking for a play entitled maybe god is trying to tell you sometihing", along with a new one: "i'm looking for a song entitled speak lord".

I suspect that a black, man-hating, woman preacher, with an overweight five-year old daughter, and whose sermons during April and May included the meaning of Good Friday, Jebez, Chronicles 4 9 - 10, and "lusting of the eyes", could well ring some bells with some people in the US biggrin.gif

It's a little window on peoples' lives smile.gif
