I know it by reputation and I could probably give you a good idea of the plotline, but oddly enough...no. I've never read it.
There are many who speak of it as the political future

I've read 1984. It's ok - it is a classic, and is probably worth reading for that reason, but I think a far better novel (or at least one that had the biggest impact on me) is Orwell's Coming Up For Air. You can see this novel as a first in a "trilogy" - the next ones would be Animal Farm and 1984.

Orwell's 1984 is a literary classic. Love it or loath it - it's still a classic that resonates now more than ever.
Sorry to bump an old thread but it had to be said.

I think Animal Farm is a great book. My favourite Orwell books are Coming Up For Air and Homage to Catalonia. Never heard of Turning Angel

I've still not read it...I figure I don't need to. The book seems to be becoming real in the UK anyway.

READ IT.
One of the best books I have ever read, a lecture on tyranny, a testament to the power of love and a tragic tale of betrayal all in one. A work of genius.
