Why not the Catalina? Most probably the first plane with the first retractable wheels.
It was a Catalina that spotted the Bismark after the sinking of britains baby.
The most useful of all the aircrafts but if you ask a pilot of one of those things he'll probably tell you it was the Semi Trailer of the skys to fly.
The Catalina fleet was a mix of amphibious Consolidated and Boeing built aircraft based out of various points in the Pacific. They were engaged in anti-submarine, shipping escort, and air-sea rescue and transport roles. From patrol missions to bombing raids, this flying boat served many purposes during WWII. Hundreds of them remained flying long after the war throughout the world.

Yes, that model of FW190 had a BMW engine! As a matter of fact that is what the BMW emblem on every car is, the sky with a white propeller rotating in it.
