Just thought i'd start a thread on fishing, to see if anyone out there shares my favorite hobby. I go mainly freshwater float fishing, for lots of different species.
I fish mainly in Kent and Essex at different lakes. Do's anyone know any decent lakes in the greater London area ?

Whats the point of it, if you dont catch to eat ?????
Is it cruel to keep hooking fish and throwing them back just for your enjoyment??????????

Yes, there is a point to it, its called fun, I suppose you would ban fish keeping aswell, whats the point ? or people doing anything you dont agree with, left wing do gooders, nanny state plonker, get a life mate, go do some happy clapping somewhere.

me a left winger, i would be the first that would believe that 50% of the population should be put to death as scrounging malingering parasites who wont get up off their arse and want to scrounge off the rest of us-----------all i did was put the 2 main things in and you reacted to the letter

And the saying is----HOOK LINE AND SINKER--------------
Ken Boothe would spin in his grave, actually the song i think was written by a man called David Gates of a group called Bread around 1971, and Ken Boothe turned it in to a reggae hit in 1974--------bloody hell i am old!!!!!!!! |
I didn't know that bread did it first, I love Ken Booth's version , how did you remember that, you must of reeled that in from the misty lake of your memory

I admit i know nothing about fishing, i have been a couple of times and caught a barbel on the severn at Bridgenorth and a few Roach and stuff. I went sea fishing once off Wales and found it fasinating and exhausting, and bloody sunburning.
But i once had a job delivering fresh fish to Hotels in and around Birmingham, and i delivered Carp quite often, they were covered in snot and kept sliding all around the back of the van, absolutley disgusting, who eats the bloody things????
In eastern europe Carp are a delicacy, there was a eastern european bloke that was nicked for trying to keep his catch to take it home to eat.
Not as slimy as Bream though

I hav'nt got a shop, dont no were you got that idea. As for sitting on the bank for a week, I wish, only manage about once a week, less in the winter.
Am a member of a club, so get to fish all year round, but not to worried about size, i'm happy what ever I catch, Me mates into matches and all that, but I never fancied that, just like sitting on the bank and forgeting about it all.

Your like me then m8y i don't mind sitting out all week and not having a fish to show for it just nice to be out
now thats a proper carp, how much she weigh.
One day, when I win the lottery, and buy me house with the lake at the bottom of the garden, I will spend all me waking hours with a rod or two out
Where are you fishing in pic ?
Orcus
Jan 6 2005, 06:56 PM
The lake is called Toms lake it's a syndicate lake just out side of Loughborugh.
And the fish is 22lb 2oz which is small for the lake we have carp up to 55lb and there growing fast
When you win the lottery let me on so i can come and fish your lake too
we only get carp up to 20lb were I fish, We have the big commercial lakes near us, But we love where we fish, they got a good selection of species and 5 small lakes to choose from, and a decent cafe, and everyone knows everyone, very friendly, lot of old boys use the lakes and its good listening to thier storys.
I will post you when I win lottery

Sounds nice were is it you come from ?
I'm very lucky there is only 10 of us that fish the lake and it only has carp in oh and 1 tench
Its amazing what you can lern off the old boy's and thats what it's all about being some where nice and with nice ppl doing the thing you love.
Im off fishing in France latter this year so hope to get some big kippers there.
I'm from Eltham in south London, we fish at shorne and cobham in kent.
Your very lucky, only ten of ya on one lake !
how often is the tench pulled out, they are buggers them tench, watched a leeda vid the other month, where they were carping and they were filming under water how the fish take the bait, the carp were just having it and taking it, the tench were having it then spitting it out !
You should have a good time in France, i've heard theres some good waters out there
Orcus
Jan 6 2005, 07:31 PM
The tench has never been hooked as of yet but we have seen him and hes about 8-9 lb now i'll have him 1 day
Do you mean the korda under water vid which thay did at horseshoe lakes with Danny farbass ?
Hope i have a good time in france last year we fished in spain on the ebro great place to fish but when we were there the river was 45 feet up in flood we were useing 8 oz bombs in the slack and still cud not hold bottom i had 9 carp to 15lb but what realy pissed us off was you cud sit there and whach 300-400 carp in a shole up to about 65lb just swim past you with no way to get to them but thats fishing
This is were im off off this year at lest it can't flood he says
http://www.wintonsfrance.com/bailiff/bailiff.htm

I have seen some of you're posts. I like you. You are honest, open and yet never try to force an argument like some people do on here. Why do they do that? Why is it that some people will not bother to read what you say and just keep on repeating their own argument? How silly is that?
How off topic is this as well

Yeah i don't mind freshwater, but paying then sitting for ages , when you know that fish are in the pond but aren't biting just annoys me, however i have caught a lot of carp and others from various places. try pulling a 12lb fish that has been hooked in the tail.
at least in the sea the fish aren't always there, so you can say you didn't go at the right time, if you don't catch anything, also sitting on a beach with no-one for hundreds of meters, great scenery surrounding you.. its all good.
my daughter bags her first carp
