QUOTE(rederic @ May 29 2010, 10:15 AM)

If you overesteem great men,
people become powerless.
If you overvalue possessions,
people begin to steal.
If you realize that you have enough,
you are truly rich.
A great nation is like a great man:
When he makes a mistake, he realizes it.
Having realized it, he admits it.
Having admitted it, he corrects it.
He considers those who point out his faults
as his most benevolent teachers.
He thinks of his enemy
as the shadow that he himself casts.
http://academic.brooklyn.cuny.edu/core9/ph...s/taote-v3.htmlThat is a fantastic link, could i ask how you came across it, or became aware of it? Needless to say, that page has gone straight in to my favourites.
I saw it on another forum.
Yes its amazing how many fantastic things we pick up on forums, but i particularly love wise old sayings and quotes like those in your link . There are of course some funny old sayings also, such as, " There is no such thing as rape, a women with her skirt up, runs faster than a man with his trousers down" Maybe funny is not quite the correct word, perhaps its better described as a humorous contradiction in terms, or something like that.
Another similar humorous quote would be, "There was an insomniac, agnostic, dyslexic, who woke up and thought, is there a Dog. You could say, simple things please simple minds and i would not argue otherwise.
