I like to think of myself as a minor tim burton fanboy (for better or for worse). I've got several books containing his works, a fair few figurines and a vast collection of films he's either written, directed or produced. So if you are a fellow internet nerd like myself, i'm sure you've found it hard to avoid the hype surrounding the Alice in Wonderland remake, due for our screens March 2010. Looking at the Trailer i find it hard not to get exited about this film. Especially with people such as Steven Fry, Christopher Lee & Johnny Depp staring.

If however, March of next year is too long to wait to get your Burton fix, there's a little known film coming around in September of this year, known only as 9. Based on a short film he did 5 years ago with Shane Acker that was a mere 10 minutes long (which can be found here), the two have expanded and developed the story to give us what will hopefully be a brilliantly dark animated movie.

that '9' looks absolutelly stunning I'll definately have a look at that.

Alice in wonderland looks dark, but I think that's how Lewis Carroll set out to do in the first place. Disney just made it look namby pamby. When you think about it the book has Alice digesting different foods and drinks which make her do all kind of weird things, bit like one long LSD trip.

I like Tim Burton but I'm not a die hard fan. I have a few DVDs Planet of The Apes, Corpse Bride and Cahrlie and the Chocolate Factory. Good stuff.

Slightly related. Has anyone seen the Simon Fellows take on the Alice and Wonderland story? It's called Malice in Wonderland, based in the crime and drug rings of london. Really weird and psychedelic, but a good movie.
