I decided to watch Terminator Salvation this afternoon as the other half had a friend around and I got not time for girlie talk.

Although I have heard quite a lot of bad things about this film I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. I thought it was a good yarn for a Sunday afternoon, and it didn’t destroy the terminator storyline.

Let’s be clear here, the only part of the future war we saw, was in flashbacks created in the first film, so the war in the future with the machines was left to the imagination of the film makers, who did a good job. If you totally ignore the fact that they made a TV series, it does fit in nicely with the film franchise. Only the most diehard fans are moaning, although I’m not a fanatic I do have the trilogy on DVD, and will get the forth. Christian Bale was good, although I feel he is being over used as an actor these days. The special effects were good, although I think cinema audiences have become accustomed to CGI.

The best bit in the film, they recreated Arnie, albeit CGI Arnie but nevertheless a bloody good 1984 recreation, he was only in it for a couple of minutes but it was enough to bridge the film gap.
There’ll definitely be another two films.

Over all I’d say 8/10
