So there I was last night Good Friday waiting to pick the other half up From Waitrose, which was shutting three hours early 6:00pm instead of 9:00pm. The amount of people trying to force their way into the store was unbelievable. And the poor trolley collector was having a ear bashing of loads of people like it was his fault. My girlfriend came out looking like she’d been through world war three, she said it had been manic all day. People spending money like the world was ending, and just because the shops are shut for ONE day.

I almost miss the good old days when everything was shut on a Sunday. You could stroll through Abergavenny and not see a soul not even the pubs were open. But now everything is twenty four hours and people expect staff in supermarkets to sleep there just for their convenience, we’ve just become a society that expects everything on a plate.

So please show a little consideration for those people who keep the beans on the supermarket shelves on the weekend.
