Full Version: £100 Million For Kaka

Now then I am not posting this as a bitter Man City hating Utd fan - I post this because I genuinely believe football has lost it's mind with the proposed purchase by City of Brazilian midfield maestro Kaka from AC Milan for in excess of £100 million how much?

Is any football player worth that much? I mean he is a man who kicks a spherical object round a pitch after all. I am struggling to come to terms with anybody with an iota of common sense would even consider paying so much money for a football player? I mean the man has talent and has served Milan and his national team well in recent years but just what would he bring to a team languishing lower table in the Premiership that is going to dramatically improve the team.

Man City could spend £100 million on a whole host of players to improve the team as a unit as oppposed to shelling out so much for one player. Don't get me wrong I would like to see his talent in the Premier League but the figures of money involved are just astronomical!

its all about money

its been like that since United started spending £25m+ on players at the start of the decade

The worlds gone KRAZY !! like AB said why don't they use the 100 million for 3 decent players instead of 1. 100 MILLION IS JUST KRAZY MAD NUTS.

I'm not a football fan, but I was gob smaked when I saw this story. It seems when the rest of us are struggling to pay the bills, the rich just keep on spending like there's no tomorrow.

On a similar note I was reading the other day that ticket sales for most of the premier league football are down. Its stupid for the club owners to spend rediculous amounts of money on players if fewer fans are turning up to the games.

Always been a keen footy fan and I said 20 million was too much when scum (I mean manu...) bought ferdinand
Of course 100 million is too much its silly money
That's why lower leagues (altho i guess im bias) are so much more interesting, players are sold for non silly prices and players are worth more than in the premier league

yeah, for players in the lower leagues, its a job, getting paid decent amounts

makes me wonder, if money will be the end of soccer

A bit off topic but when Ronaldo crashed his new Ferrari point.gif he walked away unhurt but on the pitch
just a little bump and he's rolling around in agony untill he gets a penlty blink.gif

Back on topic now, for 100m I would want a new stadium

*sighs* Why everybody picks up on the Rio transfer is a mystery to me (incidently it was £29.1m and was at the start of this decade)- nobody says £15m for Shearer to go to Newcastle, or even £22.5m for Anelka to go to Real Madrid, £30.8m for Shevchenko to Chelsea or more recently £32.5m for Robinho to go to City.

Incidently are we saying a cap should be placed on transfer fees of no higher than say £10m or £20m?

the only reason why people pick-up on rio ... is cos its too much for a defence

all the others you've mentioned, they were playing brilliantly at the time

you also missed Torres for £27m, Zidane for £50m (i think)

Yes I missed Torres and Zidane because they werent British transfer records at there respective times/locations. Although they are two other good examples of big figure transfer sums. hi.gif
