I had to close my ISA at the Halifax yesterday. £6,330. 73 has disappeared from it since 1/1/08.

I call that ROBBERY.

God just think if you had giving it to me you'd have felt 100% better £73 i'll be waiting on the postman in the new year

I would have felt better giving it to you Andy. Maybe you misread it ? The sum was £6,330.73 pence.

I am emotionally attached to my money and strongly dislike having it stolen.

It's now in the hands of the Ombudsman.

No. It was called an ISA safe investor account. Today I went down and closed it before I lose any more. I was then told that despite having lost thousands on this (not lost ! it was stolen) I have been given £300 interest on the account.
I then contacted a financial Ombudsman and told him that I had been given the wrong advice from the Halifax advisers. He is now taking up the case for me but in the meantime, I am just cutting my losses.

I know what an ISA is but what i dont get is how it just went. Did it literally just disappear?

Since last January, it went down at the rate of a few hundred pounds a month, I questioned this with the advisers and was told that it would go up and down !!! It didn't,,, it only went down.

That's an "ISA safe investor account"??? Hate to see their version of an "unsafe investor account".

So it DID go down with the interest rates then. How were you robbed?
