That's not being selfish, at least you have been honest with her. Even though the news was hard for her to take, you have done the right thing.
There's a difference between feeling guilty and being selfish

It's nothing major, sometimes he just doesn't think before he says things or does things lol
It's just annoyed me today when normally i'd let it go, or make sure his dinner is cold when he comes home

I have a theory, apply it to yourself if it makes sense.
Normaly during the month I'm female and cope or ignore things like an intelligent female. Then comes PMT time which essentially hormonely turns me into a male, and therefore won't take shit from a male and the things they try on. (which instinctively they'd never say to another male) so therefore they inccur wrath.
kick him in the balls and be down with it.

Enthusiastic amateurs. For example, Bill Oddie wittering on about the wildlife during Springwatch. He's no professional zoological training at all, but is given his own program. Ken Clarke and his jazz show. Michael Palin and that artist he was following around; Jonathan Dimbleby and his landscapes of Britain program.
Nothing against "enthusiastic amateurs" per se, but the fact that BBC or whoever gives them a program, not because they're an the best qualified to do do the program (they're not), but merely because they are
better known for doing something else.
The latest thing is to get up my nose is John Simpson and the book he's read (like I care). It's not even any sort of literatary criticism of any sort at all, but passages from frigging books he's read and liked! I've never heard so much pointless radio in my life! The point is, I guess, is that I could do it! We all could sit behind a mike, and say, "I liked this book. I read it when I left school" and get someone to narrate a lengthy passage! And how much is Simpson getting for that? A lot more than what I'm getting now, I'll bet
I want to hear John Simpson talk about some dodgy part of the world; I don't care that he reads Seamus Heaney or Henry Newboldt.

I've got to fit a loft ladder in my own house...it's a messy, backbreaking task. What's more, once I've fitted it she'll be nagging me to board out the loft and get some electricity up there. All so we (she) can store the christmas tree and assorted junk.
