Basically what the title says, do you have any obsessions (or just past times/hobbies/habits) and how did you get them?

Heres mine

Wrestling - I know some people seem to see professional wrestling as a bit silly and fake and stuff, but I love it. For me it started about 10 years or so ago when some friends were talking about it.. we had just got sky in my house so i watched some, and got hooked king.gif

Comics - growing up i watched the spider-man and x-men cartoons and loved them, then for a while i didnt have anything to do with comics really.. i'd watch the movies that came out and stuff and still keep a general interest, but when i started uni a couple of years ago i started walking around the city centre more than i used to, and so i had a good look in places like wh smith, where i never really went before.. and i learnt they sold comics books, so now i buy them monthly (waiting on the 23rd october icon_eek.gif )

Music - now i guess most people like music, so i really doubt this is an obsession or anything, but i spend a lot of time listening to it.. i never really took much attention to music (i'd listen to the odd song, nothing major, just kinda pop in the charts) until my sister started listening to stuff like iron maiden and metallica, and at first i first it was crap, but it grew on me, and then it grew from there biggrin.gif (she felt the same about wrestling when i watched it at first, but she loves it just as much as me now)

Football - i used to love football as a kid, in primary school i would play before school, during break, lunch and then at home.. i went to matches, had kits with names on the back and everything.. then some point i just lost interest, for a good few years i knew nothing.. and during the later years of secondary school i started to feel out of convos, cause my friends would talk about it, and i couldn't.. then i got a season ticket for cov, just because i could and several of my friends got one and i wanted to go with them.. (at this point i was starting to get back into it) and although watching cov city week in, week out isnt the greatest thing, but i loved it, and that really got me back into football big time.

Pokemon - yeah thats right, pokemon, a 'kids game'. Apart from the fact it isn't. Yes the cartoon is aimed more at kids, but i never really liked that too much.. but the games are amazing.. there is usually anywhere between 30 and 100's of hours of gameplay, depending on how you play, and when you decide to stop..
My obsession with pokemon started when it first made its breakthrough in england in 1999, me and virtually everyone got the games for the gameboy.. and at that point i didnt expect to still be playing them 9 years later, but i am.

Can't think of anything else, but if i do i'll post it, but now i want to here from all of you about yours thumbup.gif

Gym - I've been going regularly only for about 2 or 3 weeks now although in the summer i went alot without actually becoming a member. I'd always wanted to go to the gym but never felt brave enough. I always thought i'd feel intimidated either by bulky muscley men or hot slim women. But one day i decided enough was enough and that it was a fear i had to get over. So i did it and i've loved it ever since

Astrology - I'm not as into this as i used to be. Its not about daily stars. I hate them and know they are rubbish. But what interests me is how astrology believes that you are who you are based on where and when you were born. What you read doesnt always make sense, so you do have to take it with a pinch of salt. Its how one sign gets on with another that i love, and it has appeared to be true to me, going on the signs of people i am friends / in relationships with.

Dream interpretation - I can have some very vivid dreams sometimes and about ten years ago i began looking up what i dreamt. I had several books explaining what objects meant if you dreamt about them, and i used to get frustrated as they'd often just be one word answers and be nothing relevant to you. Later on i got into the subject more and i learnt that you have to work out what the object means to you and how its relevant to your life. Say for example, a dog apparently represents friendship. But what if you are scared of dogs in your waking life? A dog in your dream could mean something totally different. So now i rarely look up what something means, i just try to work it out for myself

Candle making - i havent actually done this in about a year but i love to make candles and i can make all shapes and sizes. I think it started when i was given a candle making set and it just went from there. I now have several books on ideas to make and moulds, dyes etc

Funnily enough it was one of my brothers who got me interested most in music. He and his friends got very into people like Oasis and Stereophonics and i thought he was "well cool" to like people like them Chortle.gif He was also the one who got me into the Manic Street Preachers but was very possessive about them. He would never let me borrow any of their stuff : girlcry.gif
