It is a philosophy sure to enrage every cheated wife.

A counsellor turned author claims that women are to blame for their husbands' indiscretions.

Psychotherapist Gary Neuman has written a guide to changes that women should make in order to stop their partners from straying.

It is the second book in a week that recommends women take a subservient role in marriage.

Mr Neuman's advice includes always forgiving him, providing sex on demand and taking an interest in his hobbies.

In his book, Advice in The Truth About Cheating: Why Men Stray and What You Can Do to Prevent It, he says a woman should praise her man for providing for the family, even if she earns more than him.

The author, who has been featured on Oprah Winfrey's TV show and in Time magazine, claims his book is 'dedicated to helping wives'.

But not all women appreciated the recommendations.

'This is an appalling book,' said Susan Quilliam, a relationship psychologist and author. 'It's more like dog-training than being in an honest, successful, adult relationship.'

I'm sensing some serious vibes here. This guy sounds like he's stereotyping the male sex, not all us male folk are typical heads turn at a short skirt type.

I've been with my girl now for nearly five years, we're getting married next year. Sure there are plenty of other good looking women about but the way I see it is that I made a choice and I plan to stick with my girl.
I've seen many relationships where the bloke has strayed and from what I can see its just way too much hassle, all that sneaking around and lying, its just not worth it.

Yes a relasionship can become stagnent, for both men and women, but that's one of the challenges of a long term relationship, to work on it and adapt, you just don't simply throw it all away because you hit a bump in the road.

There's a lot more to why men and women stray than what this guy suggests it a bit dataed, he belongs in the 20th century.

please don't beat me up girls sorry.gif

I know that not all men are like that too, but there are too many who are, out there

Who is it that these men are cheating with, then? It takes two to tango.

Indeed. Your talking about it as if the male gender is the only one that cheats...

Cheating was the best thing I ever did.

Not endorsing it to anyone because as Jason says above the hassle that comes with it is a heavy crock of s**t to carry around, and if you are happy in a relationship you are a fool to risk it for a bit of nookie. I don't believe that seeking professional advice etc for my marriage would have saved it anyway. Nor would this author's book.

I'd never cheat, i think its the worst thing you could ever do to someone your in a relationship with (and trust me, i've been through some real sh*t when it comes to relationships). I'd rather get rid of them one day, then start something new the following day than do something like that.

As for the relatonship advice and counsiling, i think its a load of utter tripe. I fail to see how someone who doesn't know you can give you quality information on what you should do. If you want counsiling, don't turn to someone you have to pay by the hour, turn to your friends.

Counselling actually worked for my mate and his wife this year. Not syaing it would do for all but I think if you want to save it then go for it as a last resort. Some people open up better to a complete stranger as they havent been closely involved and they are a blank canvas to some degree.

In my scenario I wanted out and I knew my wife wasnt being honest either so I just went for it. 3 years on and I am okay.
