I look donw the list on this section and see that no one has written anything about the old classic arcade games. I have a mame generator on my PC nad I love to play those classic arcade games. You cant beat the original Outrun.
Anyone here old enough to rember when the first arcade games came out, and also the Atari 2600 games consoles.

I still have my SNES still boxed with about twenty games, all boxed in mint, under a dust cover. I'm about to retire my PS2 when I get a Wii, and put that in the attic. It'll be good to show the kids one day the games I grew up with, er hum... still growning up with. Shame that old tv game pong no longer works.

Not exactly how I remember this game. In 1975 my father brought this TV game, it had football, tennis which was more or less like Pong and a squash.

I remember my dad was waiting outside of school on the friday with it, i wasnt expecting it at all

Then I got a gameboy at some point and it had the basic games which apart from mario and street fighter i wasnt keen on, and then came pokemon

I loved Sonic when it came out, brought a megeadrive off a guy in work, loved it. I went game crazy, the best fighting game I have ever played even with todays modern games is Eternal Champions the characters and the moved were awsome. Then I brought Flashback, oh man.. that was the dogs.
A freind of mine had a SNES, and all he used to do was go on about how superior the graphics were, I avoided talking to him whenever I could, but in the end I got a SNES, didn't think much at first, until I went out and got Super Star Wars, OMG! I was totally blown away by the 3D levels. Still got my SNES boxed and hidden away. I got all the megadrive games on the PC fantastic, Earthworm JIm 'Oh Yeah'
Anyhow going back to the eighties, anyone remember those table top electronic games from Grandstand, I had Astro Wars, there were other games like Caveman and Scramble and I think Astro Wars still in the attic in working condition.

I remember the very first time I played Flashback I was blown away by it, the cut scenes look s*** now but I remember thinking at the time it was great. The movement and rolling and jumping took a bit of getting used to but once mastered was fantastic. The mega drive was fantastic but the snes always had that little bit more. When Donkey Kong Country came out it proved it, the mega drive would not have been able to manage that game. I vaguely remember the grandstand table top, but spent most of the eighties in the pub so I don't remember it that well

Flashback was one of the first games to use motion capture in order to move the characters, everyday occurance now in games, but back then truly revolutionary. Ws playing it the other day for donkey's years, cant rember how to get off the first level, DOH!

OMG! The starwars game!
I remember queues at that cockpit thing they used for that game. It may have been the first(?) arcade game to let you sit down and pretend you were in a cockpit.
Shoot up some Tie-fighters then down into that canyon dodging bridges and laser fire.
Loved it !
Jason Chapman
Jul 31 2008, 10:35 PM
They made an Empire Strikes Back game as well, its really good to play. First you go up against the tie fighters like Star Wars, then you go up against AT AT's Brilliant. Haven't played that Star Wars game for a while, I'm addicted to commando at the mo, and Flashback.
Loved afterburner and shinobi

It was basically i Space-invaders (where you dont move forwards only side-to-side). And you have a machine gun annd a sword. The boss fights were spectacular, you could face a copy of earth which was so hard to do!
And the game was so successful in japan but never released over here.

I sold my old Xbox today to a games exchange retailers. It wasn't a 360 but I had 10 decent games included in the package. Guess how much I got for it? Go on have a guess.
Too late.
I got thirty pounds for the lot. Thirty pounds. Thirty friggin' pounds. I couldn't believe it. It's not even enough to buy a decent game for a new console. You couldn't buy a third of a ticket for the Emirates to watch the Gooners for £30 . It's not enough to put my dogs in kennels for two days. It's not enough to................ I think you get the picture. I felt robbed and cheated even as I took the cash from the heartless, money swindling, scrooge-a-like ejit behind the counter.
It seems that pound for pound consoles and games depreciate even more than cars. And the British economy. And Leeds United. And my ability to stay awake after a curry and 5 pints of Stella.
I'll stop now.
