For all you people out there who um.. acquire the odd TV program through the er hum.. world wide web, HBO have just launched a TV Mini Series called Generation Kill.

Set during the opening stages of the 2003 Iraq invasion this series follows a platoon of Marines on the front line.

This show pulls no punches so if you’re easily offended avoid at all costs. I however recommend it, given the subject matter and the amount of times we have discussed the Iraq War on the news forum. The characters portrayed come across as cocky trigger happy American’s, its well scripted. But they also take time to question just what it is they’re doing in Iraq. I’d say this is a modern Band Of Brothers. I've just watched the pilot and I don't think this little review does it any justaice, you've got to watch it and form your own opinion.
Enjoy

Jarhead the series???

I've never seen Jarhead but I know the film you're on about. This series is very well shot. Although what I said about the Yanks being trigger happy was a bit of an over statement. The characters in the program come across as full of themselves, many of them out to prove themselves in a war zone, a lot of hostility between the marines, a bit of a testosterone rush in some places.

My guess is that the story will either stick with the opening stages of the war or it will bring it up to present day. The start of the war portraying these young men eager and ready for action, the end war wary veterans having been through tough times, losing comrades etc. I’ll keep with it.
