Many institutions eventually find they are more interested in the institution than what they were supposed to represent in the first place.
Personally I see it as the fossilised thinking that goes hand in hand with religion as a whole.
Women are second class?lesser beings? Isn't that one of the things we hate about Islam?...and here we are, our own churches playing the same game.
