Anyone see this? Absolutely fascinating. Focusing on what would happen if every human being suddenly vanished. A few days after, power stations would start to shut down because of no one around to keep the fuel burning, then nuclear power stations would go into emergency shut down, the Hover Dam power station could keep churning out power for a year or two before the machinery starts to break down. Family pets would starve to death, certain dogs would survive if they got out to the open. Cities would start to flood because there would be no one around to maintain the sewage and water systems.

One year after and nature would start to reclaim city parks, and eventually the city itself. Fifty years after buildings would start to collapse, and so on an so forth. Animals on the edge of extinction would start to thrive again. This was a real food for thought documentary.

I saw it. They used Chernobyl as a baseline to show 20 years abandonment.

I suspect they were being conservative in their estimates too. The central parts of cities would be reclaimed slowly, but the suburbs would be reclaimed very fast. Leaves would block drains, and gardens would soon overgrow without human tending. All those nice pretty shrubs planted close to the house to look good, would send roots into walls superdamn quick.

Without human maintenance, a house is a fragile thing.

Yes i saw it i thought the most interesting bit was that the underground would flood because there was no one pumping it out i didnt know they had to do that..............

Also it said cats would survive because of there natural instincts.

There's a book called "Earth Abides" it's basically all or most people dying off, and each "chapter" is what happens when the pressure is taken off different species.

Cats do well...right up until they meet the expanding wild cat population. Tabby versus Puma has only one outcome.

It is. It's a sort of "I am Legend" without the silly zombies. It's a realistic look at what happens.

Wasnt there a film made about this based on the christian secular belief in "The Rapture"? "The Rapture" being when all believers in God where taken all at once to the Kingdom Of Heaven and the planet descended into chaos as all the non-believers where left behind for the "devil" to feast on - metaphorically!

I saw it on some documentary a while back! Basically a big piece of religious propaganda.
