I was witness to a small accident a week or so ago (nobody seriously injured) and it's when I took this pic as to show what had happened.

IPB Image

At first glance it is just another car/bike accident that happen every day. The rider of the bike was using the cycle lane to pass the morning rush hour traffic. We'd all stopped to let the car in the pic cross as we were stopped anyway...ooops. Crash time.

Right. Now look at the road markings. The cycle lane goes straight across the junction.

Does this mean that cyclist have right of way over all other traffic?

Yes it does appear so fraidso.gif But even though thats wrong, i guess they'll do him for wrongly being in a cycle lane wont they?

The police seem to have the motorcyclist in the wrong, and my pic made the insurance wallah who came to see me just shrug and say "open and shut case."

My real point was, how come cyclist have right of way at that junction?

Is there perhaps lil junction things on the bike lane just before coming to the box thing?

I'm great on terminology erm.gif

Great point HQ, if you were a cyclist knocked over in that situation you would have an argument. But the cyclists only obey the law when it suits them anyway. I see them everyday riding through red lights and the buggers have no insurance or road tax. And what do you do if they scrape your vehicle ?

good terminology though, I know what you mean, and no...it's a straight run through for cyclist. So the smart arsed buggers can get their hands in their pockets and pay for road upkeep if they are "Kings of the fricking road"

Same as loony pedestrians who decide to walk out in front of you for no good reason and right off your car. (Yes i'm bitter hitler.gif )
