Rangers fans took over Manchester yesterday - my mother-in-law works in the city centre and they all got sent home early because streets where being closed. Piccadily Gardens was packed.

Shame a few thugs had to ruin the otherwise jovial atmosphere.

Walter Smith has done wonders with the Rangers squad. Tho I only saw the first half I thought they had the measure of Zenit but the Russians still looked dangerous coming forward and I always felt that unless they scored first Rangers would come away in defeat.

That's unfortunately the nature of footie nowadays. Man Utd and Chelsea don't play attractive football. Even Arsenal have struggled to hit past form of flowing passing and solid build up play. I agree that Zenit where better on the night and they demolished Bayern Munich in the 2nd leg of the semi final. Advocat is a brilliant coach.

Rangers have ability in their squad but they dont have anybody with real flair when they need that something extra. Well done still to them - after all they did get further than Everton, Newcastle, Bolton and Tottenham!
