I'd like to see members experience on this. I'm very pale and have lots of moles and according to Dr Chris on tv a week or so ago, that means i'm more likely to get it. I got badly burnt several times and i have a strange mole on my chin which i think looks different than all the others i have. I've mentioned it to my dr and he said if its black then its bad but from what i've read, its not as simple as that.

Anyway, experiences please goad.gif

If you want to reduce your chances of getting skin cancer you need to apply sun cream. If you've got pale skin then you need to go for the higher factors. If you've got pale skin and fair hair then you need to go higher still. It's common sense really.

Years ago the thing to do was stay in the sun as long as you could and if you happened to get a bit pink then that was all part of it. You'd soon realise when you had a cold shower later if you were burnt or not. It's makes sense now though to treat the sun with more respect.

If you've got moles or freckles the time to start getting concerned is if they change shape or colour. It's always worth checking with your GP anyway.

I always use loads of sun cream and regularly and i dont go in the sun to get a tan

You should be fine then. Like I said - you should only get worried if the mole changes in any way.

I had a kidney transplant a while back and I have to sun creamevery day come rain or shine. The pills I take to stop my kidney rejecting make you more susceptible to skin cancer.

It's a bit weird slapping on the factor 30 when it's snowing but it's a routine I've got used to.
Scorpio
Wow that must be weird, but at least you're used to it

awwwww thats sad sad.gif I'd hate having to slap so much on... i think im asking for it really, but id rather enjoy life without worry lol that shall be my downfall
