The Prophet Muhammad - Who is Muhammad

Muhammad (peace be upon him) was an illiterate, but wise and well-respected man who was born in Makkah in the year 570 C.E., at a time when Christianity was not yet fully established in Europe. His first years were marked by the deaths of his parents. Since his father died before his birth, his uncle, Abu Talib, from the respected tribe of Quraysh, raised him. As Muhammad (pbuh) grew up, he became known for his truthfulness, generosity and sincerity, so that he was sought after for his ability to arbitrate in disputes. His reputation and personal qualities also led to his marriage, at the age of twenty-five, to Khadijah, a widow whom he had assisted in business. Thenceforth, he became an important and trusted citizen of Makkah. Historians describe him as calm and meditative.

I have to admit I’m a little ignorant when it comes to Islam, but then again I’m ignorant to most religions. I suspect that there are many people in the Islamic world that know very little about Christianity. We only see Islam in a bad light these days, and I expect Christianity is viewed in a bad way in the Islamic world.

I know there is a bad reputation about islamic culture these deys. however what happens now is really sad and disappointing for the real muslims because this has nothing to do with islam. But you believe everything in a book which was written by men & then ask people like myself to believe it also, without proof, reason or logic. Then, when asked the question "who made God" you are unable to answer because it doesn't say in your book. I thought Holy books were supposed to have all the answers?

As you say, you are unable to imagine anything beyond your book, therefore it has stunted your thought processes as all religions do.

The laws of physics on the atomic level are well established and proven, there's no "control" needed.

Saying "God does it all" is just a way of admitting you do not understand or are incapable of understanding the physical universe.

And while I'm typing, I think I'll mention the fact that although you (and any Islamic we talk to) says Islam is a religion of peace, I spent an hour last night deleting postings from someone claiming to be Islamic, that showed Islamics REVELING in the fact they were killing people. I spend a lot of time on the internet, and the number of religious types that all claim to be men of peace (both USA and Arabic), yet advocate mass killings in the name of God truly amazes me.

When personal political agendas crop up, God suddenly becomes someone who loves you killing the enemy.
Unless I'm mistaken (feel free to correct me) does Islam not say that you should kill me as I am a non-believer and an infidel?

very swift move from defending Islam to defending those who kill in the name of Islam,
and THAT is the major reason why muslims got such a bad rep.

Islam does indeed preach for many good stuff,
problem is, in reality - those things get ignored, and people do what they want (and claim that is Islam)
and that's why moderates shouldspeak out.

so - instead of defending any muslim, ignoring whatever atrocities made - stop treating Islam like a soccer team.
and tell us of the good things you see in Islam.

My point is that people choose their religion because they want to. There are many in this so called Christian country who choose to follow non Christian religions - so if a person is a Christian (that is, they have repented and accepted Jesus as their personal Saviour) it has nothing to do with geography.

You have raised a vaild point. There are Muslims who want to accept Christ but are afraid of savage persecution if they do. However, there are also "Muslims" who have accepted Christ but, as yet, they have not openly declared their faith due to fear, but have expressed their beliefs privately to a Christian. In the Gospels we read of secret believers - see John 12 v 42.
